The Newcastle Jets have claimed a 1-0 victory in the A-League Grand Final over the favoured Central Coast Mariners.
Newcastle dominated early, but they failed to make it count in a first half was high on tension but low on highlights and the scores were level as they headed into halftime.
The Jets powered onto the score board in the 64th minute with an impressive goal by Mark Bridge in what is likely to be his last game for Newcastle.
The match before a crowd of 36,354 at the Sydney Football Stadium ended in controversy when Central Coast goalkeeper Danny Vukovic was sent off for dissent after referee Mark Shield appeared to miss a handball from Newcastle's substitute James Holland in the final seconds off a corner kick.
The Jets lost their major semi final against the Mariners two weeks ago.
