Jade North has led his team in exemplary fashion throughout the 2007/08 Hyundai A-League Season, and with one more crucial game to go he is hoping that the Jets’ physical condition and the motivation of making amends for a fortnight will see his team through.
“We’re going to be switched on. The boys, you can just tell at training, everyone’s spirits are high – especially after a big win over Queensland” he said.
“We’re one of the fittest teams in the league and that (playing 240 minutes in 2 weeks) didn’t worry us one bit – we could have played longer and we could beat anyone” said North.
This Sunday, North will become the first Indigenous Australian to Captain a team in a Grand Final, a wonderful achievement in itself, but North is aiming to lift the trophy in the Jets first Hyunda A-League Grand Final appearance.
"No one likes to go down 3-0, especially to your biggest rivals.”
"Revenge is a very powerful word, and you can look at it in many ways, but obviously the boys are pretty fired up about this game.”
"We've had some great success all over the year, some great wins and the fans have been brilliant ... so what a day to take revenge out on them" North said.
No doubt North and his team will do the region proud once again when they step beyond the white line at the Sydney Football Stadium this Sunday.
